Searching for fugitives – international exchange of experiences and good practices
Through the Norway Grants and EEA Grants, Norway contributes to reducing social and economic disparities and to strengthening bilateral relations with the beneficiary countries in Europe. Norway cooperates closely with the EU through the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA). For the period 2009-14, Norway’s contribution is €1.7 billion. Grants are available for NGOs, research and academic institutions, and the public and private sectors in the 12 newest EU member states, Greece, Portugal and Spain. There is broad cooperation with Norwegian entities, and activities may be implemented until 2016.
In September 2014 Pursuit Operation Department Branch I Police Central Bureau of Investigation (Fugitives) in cooperation with the Bureau of Finance submitted a proposal in the open competition under one of the operational programs of the Norway Grants 2009 – 2014. The project “Searching for fugitives – international exchange of experiences and good practices” was placed on the second place in the ranking list.
The total cost of the project is: 1 206 520 PLN
The awarded amount is: 1 025 542 PLN
The time frame of the project is: May 2015 – April 2016
The aim of the project is to increase the efficiency of the police in preventing and combating cross-border crime and organized crime while increasing the utilization of information exchange channels such as SIS II, Sirene, SIENA and ENFAST. The project will help to improve the language skills of police officers and increase the efficiency of domestic and foreign cooperation in the implementation of international searches. The project “Searching for fugitives – international exchange of experiences and good practices” has been developed by the Police Central Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Finance.

The premise of the project is to enhance the professional qualifications and language skills of project participants in three specialized training and language courses. This exchange of knowledge and experiences would occur at an international conference.
